Start with the person
Family is the
point of it all.
My wife and our four kids are the center of my life. Hockey dad and cheer dad are equally part of who I am. The projects, the work, the learning—those all fit around being a husband and a dad.
The mohawk, gauges, and huge beard can make a first impression. Get past that and you’ll find a sarcastic, protective guy who likes making things work, cooking for people, and getting a little too invested in a new idea.
I’m a builder across a lot of different materials: computers, wood, software, dinner. The tools change. The itch to figure it out doesn’t.
Where it started
A friend. An electronics class.
A completely different possibility.
In 10th-grade electronics class, my best friend Brett introduced me to enthusiast PC building. Water cooling. Peltiers. The kind of setups that made a computer feel like something you could really build, rather than just buy.
That was the spark: I could make impressive technical things that other people found complicated. Electronics led into the CCNA and networking track, and eventually an IT Network Administration degree from PTI in 2005.

THE WORKING PHILOSOPHY
“I’m too dumb to know what I can’t do.”
So I usually try anyway.
Curiosity comes
with accessories.
I don’t always stop at trying a hobby. Resin printing turned into miniature painting, which turned into an airbrush station and a dedicated desk.
The usual uniform is flannel or a bamboo shirt, khaki pants, and skater shoes or boots. The soundtrack leans pop-punk and emo. The sense of humor comes standard.

Usually hard enough to learn something. This is where the technical tinkering, unfinished ideas, and hobby infrastructure live.

Support work rewards curiosity and a methodical approach. PowerShell is one of the tools I use for diagnostics and working through technical problems.

I’m learning web development with AI assistance. HTML and JavaScript, some PHP, Firebase, Google Apps Script, and Google Sheets integrations are all part of the exploration.

The family wallboard
An ongoing focus: a daily calendar and wallboard for the household. A practical reason to keep building, learning, and coming back for another pass.

Resin printer → miniatures → entire workstation.
During COVID, resin 3D printing led to miniature painting. That led to Army Painter Speedpaints, an airbrush station, magnification, better lighting, and a dedicated hobby desk. Apparently the accessories are also a hobby.
Life outside the workbench
Family first.
Everything else finds a spot.
Hockey dad. Cheer dad. Husband. Cook. Builder. Usually happiest with my people and something good on the way out of the kitchen.
The home team
Four kids.
A very full life.
Hockey, cheer, football weekends, and practices are part of the family rhythm. So are fires, yard work, games, and hanging out together at home.
I’m protective of my family’s privacy. You’ll find the spirit of our life here, while the kids’ names, schools, teams, and day-to-day whereabouts stay ours.

Smoke it. Grill it.
I’ll cook nearly anything. Trying something new is part of the fun, and feeding people is a pretty good reason to learn.
FLOUR EVERYWHERE
Pasta, pizza, deep dish.
Scratch-made pizza, homemade pasta, and whatever else sounds good. I’m not especially interested in keeping the menu narrow.
YES, THIS HAPPENED
A pie. Inside a cheesecake.
An apple pie with filling made from scratch, baked into a scratch-made cheesecake. It was amazing. Subtlety was not the assignment.

Cars, builds & the details
The R34 Skyline is a favorite. Shooting, AR builds, and ballistics are another side of the same interest in how mechanical systems come together.

Big landscapes.

Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, southwest South Dakota, and Wyoming are travel favorites. The kind of landscapes that stay with you after the trip.
